How to make DIY fabric pumpkins

Get in the spirit of Halloween and learn how to make these quick and easy DIY fabric pumpkins, perfect for the Autumn season. Suitable for the whole family to get crafting for Halloween and have some fun!

No sewing machine required and this quick and easy Halloween craft is perfect to use up fabric scraps too! 

What you'll need:

  • Base fabric (we used orange and cream)
  • Fabric scraps
  • Ribbon
  • Cinnamon stick or twigs for stalk
  • Wadding
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors
Step 1

Step 1

Cut fabric to desired size. For a medium pumpkin cut fabric to 40cm x 20cm and for a small pumpkin cut fabric to 30cm x 15cm.

Fold fabric with short edges together, sew together and press fabric. Gather fabric on open end and secure.

Step 3

Stuff your pumpkin with wadding, and gather the opening at the top and secure tightly.

Take your scraps of fabric and lay fabric in the middle placing pumpkin on top, bring ends together at the top of pumpkin and tie securely. Go back around the pumpkin and secure at the base. Finally go back around the belly of the pumpkin and knot at the top.

Pop your cinnamon stick into the centre of the pumpkin to create your stalk. Finish with a bow around the stalk.
