Foliage colours
Warm colours of deep red, burnt orange and gold are great accent colours to use with a neutral scheme of creams and taupes. Use for cushions, throws and rugs. If you want a bolder scheme you could use a tartan upholstery fabric for a statement chair or paint a feature wall in a bold colour. Use different textures for cushions and rugs to add interest to your scheme. Add a cuddly throw ready for the cold winter months. For your curtain fabric look for a print that includes these colours and pick out some of the autumnal colours for your accessories, you could choose your favourite tone or use altogether for a more eclectic scheme. These bold colours would bring drama to a dining room.
Fruits and Berries
Deep plums and soft greens will create a calming feel to your room. Start by painting your walls in a soft apple green. Look for a curtain fabric that incorporates green and plums. Pile cushions onto a comfy sofa, use plain colours picked from the curtain fabric and stripe fabrics in these colours for a relaxed feel. This would be a great colour scheme to use in a bedroom or living room.
Mists
If neutral colours are more your style then take inspiration from the misty mornings and create a scheme using creams and greys. Using these colours need not be boring and can create a welcoming and sophisticated scheme. Layer lots of textures using wool, velvet and plaids in neutral shades. For example you could use a grey or cream plain velvet for a curtain fabric, a plaid as an upholstery fabric for chairs or sofas. Use a mixture of these fabrics for your cushions.
Accessories
Whichever is your favourite colour scheme they all take inspiration from the countryside so accessories are best kept natural, such as wicker baskets full of logs, vases of flowers and fresh fruit displayed in wooden bowls.
Autumn is one of my favourite times of the year, the sights and colours are beautiful and provide wonderful inspiration to bring into the home.
