This easy 6 step DIY pillowcase tutorial is a perfect craft for beginner sewers and adds that personal touch to any bedroom’s décor. Whether you make it for yourself or as a gift, this quick and easy pillowcase craft is perfect for all the family.

For this guide, we used the Jungle Safari fabric in the white colourway to provide a statement look. We paired it with a simple Craft Plain fabric in the ivory colourway for the back. Any of our craft fabrics would be suitable for this make.

  • Thread and a needle
  • An iron
  • A sewing machine
  • A tape measure

Firstly, cut out one rectangular piece of your main fabric that is 50x81 cm and another rectangular piece that is 50x66 cm.

Then, hem one short side of each of your fabric pieces.

Place the two fabric pieces right sides facing, with the non-hemmed edges lined up.

Measure the difference in length between the two fabric pieces and fold over the excess fabric over itself to create the envelope.

Pin the three edges that aren’t hemmed and sew along them on the sewing machine, using a zigzag stitch for extra strength.

Turn your pillowcase right sides out and press with an iron.
