Our very talented customer, Jane, has recently upcycled an old pair of Venetian blinds to create these beautiful The Chateau style blinds using the popular Angel Strawbridge Potagerie Wallpaper - we were so impressed, and we’re sure you will be too.

Jane has very kindly created a guide so you can find out how to upcycle your very own pair of venetian blinds with whatever wallpaper you choose – surprisingly, it’s easier than it looks. So, if you’ve got an old pair of Venetian blinds that are in need a spruce up, carry on reading to find out how you can easily cover them to bring a new lease of life to your windows.

What you'll need

What you'll need

  1. Venetian blind to fit your chosen window
  2. Wallpaper (enough to cover your blinds)
  3. PVA glue
  4. Craft knife
  5. Staple gun and staples
Step 1

Step 1

Dismantle your blind. To do this simply remove lower bar from blind by undoing staples from tape and knots from cords. Then remove cords and then slide slats from tapes (note how they go to replace).

Step 2

Step 2

To cover slats with wallpaper, use PVA glue straight onto wallpaper and lay wallpaper onto slats. Continue to match a second width of wallpaper if necessary. Allow to dry.

Step 3

Step 3

Once dry, turnover it over and number the slats. Cut between the slats with a very sharp craft knife. Individually cut the cord holes by running a craft knife through the centre of the slots. Gently push the wallpaper into slots from wall papered side – A small screwdriver head or the end of a teaspoon works well for this.

Step 4

Step 4

Place the slats together in the right order, rethread slats through the tape, and reinsert the cords. Finally, retie the knots on the cords in bottom bar and re-staple the tapes.

Step 5

Step 5

Hang your upcycled blind.
