Five ways to use grey fabric in your home decor

If you are a fan of neutrals and want to be bang on trend this summer then consider using grey fabric as a basis for your colour scheme.

This is a very versatile neutral colour which comes in a great many shades, so choose the one which suits your home and style.

Industrial Chic

Industrial Chic

The industrial look is a key trend this summer and can work well in any style of home from contemporary to traditional. Try using a grey fabric as an upholstery fabric on sofas and chairs. A good idea would be to use a grey tartan fabric on a feature armchair. This can be a quite masculine scheme so if you want to add a feminine touch then add a bright accent colour such as gold or hot pink and use for cushions or bright artwork.

Cool Coastal

Grey may not be the obvious choice when you're thinking about using seaside fabric in your home, but imagine a stormy day at sea and use a tonal scheme of grey fabrics instead of the usual sea blues. Look for a grey striped fabric for upholstery and a printed seaside fabric for curtains or blinds, paint walls pale grey and use flooring with a weathered wood finish. Accessorise with driftwood to bring a contemporary twist to a popular theme.

Country Charm

Grey and yellow are a great combination when designing a country style theme for your home. Look for grey fabric featuring faded roses or birds and use for curtains, co-ordinate with pale silver grey walls and floors for a relaxed feel. The Sherborne Grey fabric has a subtle floral shadow style print. This would be a great colour scheme for a bedroom when you could add creamy white furniture and crisp white bedlinen.  Add a cosy woollen throw in steel grey for a touch of warmth.

Retro Revival

Retro Revival

When used with mustard and teal geometric designs, grey is the perfect shade to use in a retro style room. Using grey as a base colour it is easy to add pops of retro colours such as zingy orange, luscious lime and deep purple into your scheme. This will give your scheme a modern edge and bring a retro scheme bang up to date.

Classic Sophistication

Classic Sophistication

Grey and neutral tones sit comfortably together to give you a sophisticated and stylish scheme, ideal for living rooms.  A striped grey fabric made in to a roman blind would bring a smart look to your room or use for full length curtains.  Add rugs and throws to give some pattern and texture to your neutral room. For unique artwork have your favourite images made into black and white canvases and display on your walls.
