- Measure Your Curtain Pole or Track
Always measure the width from the Pole or Track, not the window itself.
- For a curtain pole, measure between the finials (excluding decorative ends).
- For a track, measure its full length.
Position your pole or track 10–20 cm above the window and extend 15–30 cm either side to let curtains stack neatly.
2. Measure the Curtain Drop
Drop is the length from the pole or track to where you want the curtains to end.
- Sill length – just below the windowsill
- Floor length – just above the floor for a tailored look
- Puddled – with extra fabric resting on the floor for elegance
Curtain poles - eyelet curtains, measure from the top of the pole. For pencil or pinch pleats, measure from the bottom of the wooden/metal rings (above the eyelet where curtain hook threads in)
Always measure in three places and use the shortest to ensure a level finish.
Curtain tracks – measure from the top of the track so that the curtains cover the tracks when closed. Wave heading is the exception where you measure from the bottom of the track to desired drop.
- Special Windows
For bay windows, measure each section individually. If in doubt, sketch the space or contact us for advice.
- Before You Order
- Double-check all measurements
- Don’t measure just the glass or frame
- Consider linings for insulation and light control
