How to Use Outdoor Fabrics

Create a practical yet stylish outdoor space with our huge range of outdoor fabrics.

Bringing pattern and colour to your garden is a great way to introduce some personality, whether you like vibrant prints or more subtle herringbone designs we’ve got you covered with our extensive range of outdoor fabrics.

Outdoor fabrics are hugely versatile and can be used for a range of projects from seating areas to peg bags and bean bags, read on to discover how you use outdoor fabrics to spruce up your garden this Summer.

Outdoor Cushions

Outdoor Cushions

The most affordable and effective way to bring a touch of colour or pattern into your garden is to make some outdoor cushions. This can spruce up a BBQ area or add some comfort to your deckchairs and is a fun and simple way which doesn’t cost a lot of money. Please note outdoor fabrics are much thicker than your average fabric due to the Teflon or acrylic coating to make them suitable for outdoor use so we recommend using a sharps needle and using the zig zag stitch for strength and the best finish.

A popular choice for cushions with our customers is the Lima Jungle outdoor fabric. This design is filled with foliage and wildlife and is an excellent choice if you’re wanting to transport your garden to the tropical jungle. Pair with the Salcombe Outdoor plain for either coordinating plain cushions or as piping for that extra finishing touch.

Deckchairs and Sun Loungers

Deckchairs and Sun Loungers

Do you have a deckchair frame that needs a refresh? Traditional stripes are a popular choice for deckchairs and sun loungers, and we have a fantastic range on our website. Outdoor fabrics are hard wearing and versatile for a great choice for updating old sun loungers.

The Coastal outdoor fabric is a popular choice for more traditional gardens and inspired by the coastal stripe seen at British beaches. Available in seven classic colours this fabric would make a wonderful deckchair or lounger. This fabric has UV protection properties, and a colour fastness of 6/7 so will not easily fade if left out in the sun. This timeless design will instantly uplift your garden and a practical choice too.

Conservatory Furniture

Conservatory Furniture

Garden rooms and conservatories get a lot of natural sunlight so it’s important you choose an outdoor fabric that can protect against fading and be hard wearing for heavy use during the summer months. The Valencia fabric is a highly practical choice for furniture and comes with several must have properties like stain, mould, UV and water resistant.

Valencia comes with a 5-year warranty against colour fading so an excellent choice for a conservatory if south facing. With a 40,000 rub test result, this is an extremely hard wearing fabric that also can be cleaned with a 1:20 bleach solution perfect for unwanted stains. For more classic interiors then consider using the Fossil Colourway, this fabric is a warm beige that can be spruced up with colour cushions. For a bolder room, look at the Valencia fabric in the Bombay Colourway, its vibrant blue shade will create an eye-catching piece of furniture.

Floor Cushions and Bean bags

This plain fabric comes in an array of colours from bright to more neutral and is washable at 30 so easy to remove any grass stains which may colour the fabric. For a more vibrant bean bag then consider the Jungle Outdoor fabric. This versatile outdoor fabric avoids condensation against heat and humidity and is easy to clean. Available in green, blue and monochrome shades this leafy design is perfect for a garden.

Parasols
