Decorating with shades of grey

A key colour to use for decorating schemes is grey. This is a very versatile neutral colour which comes in a great many shades, so choose the one which suits your room the best.

How to use

How to use

You can use this neutral colour in many different ways.  For instance you could use a palette of greys from light to dark to create a tonal scheme, mixing different shades and textures to create a sophisticated yet relaxed scheme, ideal for bedrooms.  Using these tones and grey fabric in this room will give it a boutique-hotel style which is very chic.

In a bedroom try using a pale grey for your wall colour and then team this with crisp white bedlinen, white furniture and a sparkling chandelier.  Use a grey floral faded fabric for curtains. A deeper grey tartan for an upholstered headboard and a feature wall in a metallic wallpaper.

Using bright accents

Grey fabric also looks great when used as a base colour and then use accents of a brighter colour to give it a very contemporary feel, hot pinks and yellows are particularly good accent colours with grey.

If you want to lighten the look of your grey room, go for white or cream furniture and glass accessories.

Another key trend the use of metallics, particularly silver and these work extremely well with grey fabrics to dress them up and add a bit of sparkle! This could be introduced in fabrics, accessories or a feature wallpaper.
